Edu Fun Nursery School is a Mooton Group-led customized design project for a whole kindergarten in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Additionally, this nursery school is specifically created and constructed for children ages 1-4 years. When designing this nursery, the Mooton design team took into account several dimensions, including the school’s British education EYFS teaching philosophy and the mental and physical development needs of children’s growth, so as to create an ideal nursery that allows children’s subjective initiative to fully play and begins a remarkable journey of life.

Nursery School Overall Design Integrating EYFS Teaching Philosophy of British Education
Based on the EYFS Teaching Philosophy of British Education, which uses the fundamental idea of "child development as the center" as the kindergarten's design premise, Mooton Group built this project with the goal of establishing a supportive and choice-rich school environment. In this designated school setting, children are able to go through and challenge different fields at their own pace, so that children can discover their own talents for changing the world, have an opportunity to choose following their heart in the future, and embark on a wonderful journey of life belonging to themselves.What’s more, a school setting that incorporates teaching concepts is more favorable for the creation of curricula, the use of instructional strategies, and the accomplishment of learning goals.

The Application Of Design Concept

Since the nursery design is taking the design guideline of centering on the development of the child, the interior and exterior spaces both choose the factors that are needed for children’s healthy growth. First of all, the interior space design adopts a natural and simple design style, matching common colors in nature, such as green, log color, etc., to create a comfortable indoor environment close to nature. Furthermore, some bright and vivid colors are added to this interior space design, which can break up the dull atmosphere of the interior space. At the same time, various functional areas under the guidance of this design philosophy will select the corresponding colors according to the different use purposes and amusement functions of the venue, so as to show the flexibility and diversity of the design application.Secondly, the exterior space is designed to serve children aged 1-4 years old, so the Mooton Group conceived clever design solutions to meet their entertainment needs, paired with some high-quality outdoor play equipment.Through playing the outdoor playground equipment, it not only plays a certain role in improving children’s abilities in different aspects but also provides an outdoor playground that is needed by children’s growth to help children contact and understand nature.

Reception Area

As a facade area in the kindergarten, the design of the reception room needs to be very sophisticated. A reading tree is designed in the reception area of the kindergarten to increase interest, break the strangeness of children when they come to the school, and provide a free exchange area for children. At the same time, a waiting area for visiting parents is also set up in this area.

Toddler Childhood Classroom

The toddler childhood classroom on the first floor is designed for children aged 1-2 years old and has many functional areas with different play functions. What's more, the early childhood classroom is also equipped with many types of high-quality nursery setting furniture and indoor playsets, which can provide children with multiple possibilities, allow children to choose their areas of interest, and give children's subjective initiative into full play.

The early childhood classroom on the second floor is specially designed for children aged 2-4 years old. It follows the design guidelines and design style of the indoor space to create a natural and comfortable learning environment. In addition, each classroom incorporates a large number of design elements from nature and human science, making the entire space full of learning and exploration in nature.

In addition, the designers of this outdoor play area for kids are aimed at helping children with improvement in three aspects.First, children can enhance their sense of space and balance, and their core muscles can be exercised when climbing or moving. Secondly, children can be cultivated to obey rules and order. Third, when children play in the kindergarten outdoor playground, they can strengthen their understanding of space, speed, and distance.
