A daycare center for children of all ages from 3 months to 4 years, based on Reggio's educational philosophy

This early childhood center takes the Reggio Emilia teaching philosophy as the design guideline, and the Mooton Group design team implements the teaching philosophy into the whole design. In view of the fact that Reggio Emilia's teaching philosophy pays attention to children’s free growth, and provides children with a variety of “expressive, communicative and cognitive language” in their cognition and learning, so that children can learn actively, therefore, based on the characteristics of Reggio Emilia teaching philosophy, the early childhood center is built as an open-ended overall space which is beneficial to children’s learning cooperation and teacher's observation.

The Application Of Design Concept

Under the design guideline of Reggio Emilia's education philosophy, the Mooton Group design team mainly implements it through three aspects. First of all, the early childhood classroom adopts a design without walls, allowing children to choose the area or activity of interest freely and communicate and interact with their partners. Secondly, the early childhood classroom is planned into multiple diverse functional areas matching various nursery setting furniture and indoor playsets, providing children with the possibility of multiple choices. Thirdly, the whole daycare center pays great attention to the application and collocation of colors, using soft and bright colors to create a vibrant, warm, and comfortable environment for children. In this environment, children can also improve their color cognition and further develop their brains.

Early Childhood Classrooms for Kids Aged 1-2 Years Old

The early childhood classroom for toddlers of 1-2 years old has five various design solutions and each design solution is planned and designed according to the original site characteristics and terrain of the classroom. In these toddler classrooms, they all adopt premium nursery setting furniture and integrate lots of natural elements, so as to create a green, healthy, and natural classroom environment for children.

Early Childhood Classroom for Children Aged 3-4 Years Old

The customized classroom for 3 to 4-year-old children is designed with 4 different schemes according to the original architectural terrain and area of the preschool classroom. Besides, each scheme is conceived based on the physical and mental development needs of 3 to 4-year-old children, and is matched with corresponding functional areas and nursery setting furniture. In the design of each classroom, different planning layouts and some different classroom accessories are used to create four different preschool classrooms and highlight the characteristics of each classroom.

Preschool Indoor Playground

This preschool indoor playground is equipped with a tree house playground and some micro-terrain sensory integration equipment,allowing children to feel and experience different indoor playground equipment to strengthen the sensory of space and improve the children’s balanced ability of hands and feet.

Focus on the infant’s characteristics of age and growing needs, this infant’s room sets a large area to be the rest area and increases some soft-packaged interactive equipment.

Reception Area

The reception area also uses an open design, further implementing the education philosophy and permitting children to shuttle freely. In addition, the natural elements, like trees are incorporated in the area，creating a relaxed and comfortable space.
